Key Colour Trend for Autumn/Winter 2012/13 for Kidswear:
Deep Bordeaux red and autumnal Mustard Shades(both are my favourite colour)
Major themes include woodland flora and fauna and elite British lifestyle,
ranging from boarding school-inspired sports to theatrical dandy-styles
The followings are the few trends from the Bubble London that I particular adore:
Boarding School
- A subtle update from the preppy theme that has dominated childrenswear. This look has a very British elite appeal for both girls and boys
- Single-breasted jackets feature contrast piped bindings
- The essence of Public school pastimes such as rowing, polo and rugby are captured with bold numbers, letters and crests
Little Dandy
- British heritage takes on a regal or dandy-inspired direction with a handful of new luxury brands driving the look for both girls and boys
- Harris style tweeds and Melton wool are key fabrics for this theme. Play with traditional wool plaid checks for girls' daytime dressing
- A theatrical twist completes the look for occasion styles featuring large bows, lux Sherpa linings and brass buttons
Neck details
- Detachable collars in luxury fur or velvet options prove poplular at Bubble London
- Ties and pussy-bow are also key, with the focus on feminine neck detailing
- Peter Pan and pretty shaped collars dominate girls' dresses and shirts in luxe finishes, with contrast colours or pretty trims
Tartan
- Traditional Stewart tartan is a must-have textile for autumn crossing girls' and boyswear
- Apply to casual or smart products as a block fabric, lining or trim
- Update accessories and bags by using tartan fabric for panelling or as a trimming
Fair Isle
- Traditional Fair Isle intarsias and jacquards continue as a staple for autumn/winter 2012/13 knitwear
- Muted colourways are popular, or add bold injections of colour to enliven winter palettes
- Naive geometrics, zig-zags and simple stripes become key design elements to update Fair Isle patterns
Corduroy & Velvet
- Velvet continues as staple smart and partywear fabric across girls' and boys' products
- Update casual products for autumn/winter 2012/13 by replacing jersey with velvet options
- Cord continues its reign as the fabric of choice across bottoms, outerwear and dresses, with fine needle cord dominating
Animal intarsias
- Woodland animals are a popular choice, particularly owls, bears and foxes
- Zoo animals are also emerging as a key direction in animal graphics
- Use animals as a fun placement on knitwear, or update by adding to intarsia or border designs
Loving this all-time-classy, dandy elite british look.
Possibly you could find a piece or two from your old wardrobe to hand over to your children in this winter?
